Laura asked:

There is a lot of wear on the 56 year old oak floors that were underneath carpet for 30+ years. Not only water stains and wear and tear, but also some blackish type of adhesive. Its not sticky or anything, just stubborn to scrape off. Will a big belt sander be enough to restore the floor, or will I have to somehow remove the black residue before sanding?

Hi…………Why don’t you get a small business guy with a big sander and a collection bag on his back and sand your whole place, that way you will get a really nice job, you won’t believe it yourself. If you try and to it with a big belt sander you will just grind groves and mistakes in it. Try it, you will like it, and I don’t believe he will charge you that much. Good luck…………and also he will know how to color and fill it correctly.
