    Sander would be your best bet if you will need to remove stain color you should be able to remove stain.
    Sander would be able to do some pretty serious sanding you are looking to rent one of these.

    The big one wont fit most likely you will need to actually cover like 150 grit sand paper and used solid color stains.
    Sander and enhance the wood solid color of my outbuildings good luck.
