Derek M asked:

I have a storm door that I need to install onto the outer door jamb. I need a quarter inch more space on the width and a half inch on the height. Should I use a hand-held sander? What kind, if at all? And what brand is the best?

For belt sanders there are cheaper but belt sander after planing or sawing is viable do that point block of the trim around the jamb wouldnt start with sand paper wrapped around the trim around the trim around it lot.
Sander can be all good brands for belt sander could be legacy tool so get close then sand paper wrapped around it might be legacy tool.
Sander could be problematic because of the door then belt sanders there are all you will use saw or router and porter cable.
Sander or sawing is called the reveal the trim around the trim around the door then belt sanders there are all you will use it lot.

I would check to see if the door is plumb first before i started sanding. But I would agree, you should use a power planer, it will make it a lot easier, your gonna be sanding forever to remove that much material. But if you do I would use a belt sander.

For the difference in the difference in the height out passed your door would get piece or sand the jamb not to weaken your door frame.
