My wife and I plan on refinishing this floor in the near future. Because the floor is parquet (12×12 blocks with 5 identical wood strips that run parallel with each other, but perpendicular to the neighboring blocks), I won’t be able to use a belt sander.
Thanks in advance!

A rented one. The place has the exact sander and sanding grits you will need. Takes a fraction of the time and collects the dust. There is a LOT of dust.
I would reccomend a random orbital sander. I have had good luck with this on wood grains that run 90 degrees to each-other.
I used a ryobi and it was kinda wimpy - but it did the job and collects the dust….
An random orbital sander is not in that bad of condition and its just need buffer with steel wool buffing pads to match the stain color and its just need.
The staples and knees and foolow the staples and 30 grit 50 and knees and knees and knees and.
For 35 aday rotating obit sander you may have to look or floor with ya as yo pull the staples.
