The chair rail was stained in white wash finish and has approximately 3 coats of water based poly. The chair rail is curved and has detailed work on bottom. I want to refinish it with darker stain. What type of sander can work such small and intricate areas?

Can of Corn asked:

Sanding question - I am removing and old finish from my railings - need advise on a mini sander?
I have a 5″ diameter random orbital sander that works beautifully on large surfaces. But for the insides of the balusters I need something smaller. So, I have the Ryobi mini orbital sander 12,000 rpm. Unfortunately, this thing takes 5 times the work of the 5″ sander.

Anyone have any recommendations for a smaller orbital sander or the like that will do the job faster for me?

(I do not have an air compressor so the Chicago Pnuematic Mini Orbital Sander) is out of the question - although it would probably have been great!)

Thank you!
The Ryobi is a triangular head detail sander.

What kind do you have?

Ann

Though considered as the Queen of German Fashion, Jil Sander is one popular designer who caters to international fashion designs. The products she sells all carry an international touch, and although her company is nestled beautifully in the northern part of the German city, Hamburg, the clothes and fragrances she markets are all manufactured in Milan, Italy.

Jil Sander was born in Wesselburen, Germany on November 27, 1943. She entered the fashion industry when she started working as a fashion journalist at McCall’s in Los Angeles, as well as for two other magazines in the city, Constanze and Petra. She became a fashion designer in 1968 when she opened her own boutique, then selling a collection of women’s wear.

During the early years of her being a clothing designer, Jil Sander was favored much for her delicate fabrics. Her design was compared to the 1920’s Bauhaus architecture, but she also crafted lines of simple cuttings. She was able to enrich her collection though when she started adding some coordinates to her own pieces. This is where the collection of delicate colors, shapes, and fabrics, all designed for women, came in.

In 1978, Jil Sander opened her first ever perfume boutique under the name Jil Sander GmbH. Fragrances and cosmetics of high quality were introduced to the market through this trademark, and it is worth knowing that since the year of its inception, all products were able to hit the market with positive reviews and testimonials from all sides.

True to what Sander guarantees, all her fragrances and cosmetics carry a delicate quality that most people consider as unmatched. She marketed her own lines of perfume by showing an advertising campaign with her face featured prominently on the products’ cover.

The clothing, cosmetic, and later, the eyeglasses and lenses collection of Jil Sander were finally brought to Milan when she decided to expand her coverage to attract the international market. She brought her name to North America, as well as to Asia using her own capital.

It was in 1993 when she opened her own store in Paris, showing her collections of delicate items on the building’s four floors. She joined with Puma, and the two successfully launched their sneakers collection.

Jil Sander handles her own business by herself. She took care of the designing process down to the selection of fabrics. The quality control of her own garments is even handled with her own approval, and to further make sure that everything is done perfectly, she involves herself in the surveillance of her own marketing products and accessories.

Unlike other international fashion designers, the Jil Sander house of fashion is known for its strict behavioral rules that each of her personnel has been maintaining. The sales persons of each of Sander’s branches are positioned in the boutique meticulously.

With all the interests and efforts exerted into her own business, Jil Sander was able to manage her own company until the 21st century. Her success continues until today, but unlike before, Prada is now part of their success.

It was in 1999 that the Prada Group bought a reported 75 percent of the company’s share. She resigned though in 2004 as the head designer and partner of the Prada Group after having conflicts with Prada’s very own Mr. Patrizio Bertelli.

I want to paint over my existing kitchen cabinets (and some other furniture)….and I absolutely dread hand sanding a bulk of these items.
What electric sander should I buy? I am absolutely new to this and don’t know any difference between orbital sander or whatever. I just know that I don’t want it to be too heavy or I might strip away all the wood.

Solorya asked:

I’m registering for a sander since I’m the handyman of our duo, and I like to refinish things like desks, dressers, etc. (I’ve even done a small sailboat). I’ve done all the sanding by hand previously, but an electric sander would make things so much easier! What type of sander would be best for these types of products? Any suggests as to brands that are good?

David Sanders asked:

In Part 1 of Time Management Techniques Guaranteed to Cure or Kill, we covered the first three “Ds of the “4Ds” for handling your traffic – DO IT; DUMP IT; and DELEGATE IT.

Here is a quick review of that article before we take up the final “D.” If you are following this system you have already taken these steps.

1. Stacked all your unhandled communications, large and small, gathered from drawers, trunks of cars, bedroom bureaus, closets, etc., on your desk, or as near as possible in the vicinity of your desk.

2. Then you have taken each item one by one and done one of four things with it

DO IT. DUMP IT. DELEGATE IT. DELAY IT.

It possibly has taken you considerable time to plow through all your stacks. Now you are left with a quite small (by comparison) stack of items that you did not dump, could not delegate, and that you could not knock out in about 10 minutes, so you have DELAYed IT.

What remains should be about 1% - 10% of what you began with. These are the more complex matters, but there are a few things that you can do to get on top of even the most resistant of your traffic.

Remember you initially procured a stack of file folders. The next step is to start by sorting each DELAYED item into one of the folders establishing categories of functions as you go. As each new function appears, label the folder according to that various “hat” (or job), such as finance, family, hobbies, personal, computer, production, sales, marketing, future plans, etc. If an item does not fit in one of your already existing folders, make a new one. It is very important that each folder only deals with one area, “one hat.”

As you put the items into the folders, put them into the sequence in which you want to do them. The items on top will be handled first and at the bottom, last as you decide.

You may also find there are things you just want to do for which you don’t have a piece of paper. Don’t skip these, make a note and put them in proper sequence in the appropriate pending folders.

The next step is vital, or all will be wasted. You must set aside some time regularly to work on these pending folders so you eventually catch them all up completely following the priorities you have set.

There is another action that will help you save a bunch of time. Remember, you can only do one thing at a time. The smart thing to do is on any complex tasks, lay out the steps that need to be done, and mark a line after it that you can write “done” on as soon as that step is done. Now you have a small project that you can systematically follow, and you will find that breaking up the overall cycle into a series of steps that can be done one by one is most rewarding.

Nothing is more satisfying than taking out one of these project sheets and being able to scrawl “done” on that line. Many people start finding that they can knock out several steps of a project when they proceed this way. The really proficient ones even put dates on the line to challenge themselves to get the steps done on a certain timetable. After awhile, this becomes the most natural way in the world of operating, and believe me, if things are bugged, you will know it right away if you see no progress, so you can take the necessary steps to debug the project. That is another very distinct advantage – not to mention always knowing exactly where things stand if you are asked.

The final piece of the puzzle is to schedule your day so you have designated slots for the various hats that you are wearing. It is even better if you can set up different desks or areas where you work on different hats. This also has the advantage of setting things up for easy turnover to new staff, which you are probably going to be bringing on as your efficiency increases. If you can’t do that, discipline yourself so you only work from one folder at a time when you are at your desk; and as much as possible, stick to the schedule. A number of very bright people have taken to using auto-responders on their email to inform people of when they will next be dealing with this or that cycle, to avoid continual harassment.

If you organize your work this way, you will be amazed at how much more you can get done. If your entire office operates this way, you will find production soaring. And like I said, we are really only scratching the surface of all that can be done to increase productivity. Don’t be surprised if someone suggests you should be promoted.

Beginner traders often fantasize or wonder about how some people are able to achieve tremendous profits by trading stocks just a few hours on a daily or weekly basis.

So going farther than the hype & the bells and whistles that a lot of the called “trading gurus” like to invoke, the real “secrets” of the stock market game are enclosed within the trading set ups and market signals you rely on to decide how to CHOOSE stocks, as well as WHEN to BUY & when to SELL them, or even when to SHORT SELL those that are poised for a profitable fall.

So the clearer your set ups are, the faster you can spot a potentially profitable trading scenario and ACT ON IT reducing your risk.

Complicated technical systems and information overload can make you slow and confuse you right from the start, making you loose money instead of making your profits grow.

In essence, You can be sure that the trading method you employ to approach the stock market and pick stocks can make a big difference in your results as a trader. In order to succeed you will need to FOCUS on a set of simple trading strategies that you can implement without hesitation.

Fortunately some sites on the web do offer more effective and updated day trading methodologies. One of those sites that can show you how to take advantage of certain stocks on positive and negative momentum as well is http://www.MomentumStockPick.com

They focus on momentum stock trading strategies, that are practical and easier to apply than many other technical systems out there.

Stock trading doesn’t have to be complicated as many people perceive. But you do need to follow a well organized set of rules and tactics, that once you master them, you can aspire to replicate profitable trades with consistency.

I purchased a $500 Porter-Cable sander but the $10 sanding disks don’t take away enough material and they fall apart really quickly. I am looking to sand a lot of area and don’t want to be up on a ladder. I am sure supprised that I cannot seem to find a disk sander on a pole. Any help would be appreciated.
